Journey to Socotra with Those Who Call It Home
More Than a Destination—Socotra is a Journey Into the Extraordinary
Beyond Socotra means a story, a pulse, a connection. We create intimate journeys to the Yemeni island of Sokotra — raw, rare, and unforgettable. Our tours are built with local communities, respect for nature, and deep cultural sensitivity. You’ll trek through limestone caves lit only by your torchlight, share stories with nomadic herders, swim in natural rock pools hidden between cliffs, and fall asleep in luxury tents under skies unspoiled by light pollution.

Norway
"This wasn’t a vacation. It was a total reset. Socotra is like nowhere else I’ve ever been, and the Beyond Socotra team made me feel like I belonged there. No WiFi, no rush, just raw nature, kind people, and that sky... I came home quieter, stronger, and kind of sunburnt. Worth every second."

UK
"I didn’t know places like this still existed. Wild, untouched, humbling. The team was absolutely incredible – professional, warm, and real. You could tell they love what they do. I’ve never laughed so much while riding in the back of a jeep covered in dust."

Germany
"I was nervous to send money to someone I’d never met for a trip to a place I’d never heard of... but Roksana made it feel completely safe. She was present the whole time, and the local crew? Absolute legends. I already know I’ll go again."

Slovenia
"From the very first message, I felt like I was planning a trip with a friend. Everything was organized but flexible, professional but personal. It’s rare to find people who care this much. And Socotra? She stays with you."

We believe in slow travel, real connection, and radical respect.
We don’t follow tourist trails. We open doors to places that change you. If you’re looking for authenticity, silence, and stories worth remembering, welcome to Socotra.
Socotra: The Island Time Forgot
Where ancient landscapes, wild beauty, and untouched magic still exist.
Everything You Need to Know Before You Travel to Socotra
The easiest and safest way to reach Sokotra is via a humanitarian flight from Abu Dhabi. It operates twice a week during the high season (October to April). Since it’s not a commercial airline, tickets aren’t available online — but no worries. We’ll handle the booking for you through our direct connection with the operator and make sure everything runs smoothly.
To enter Sokotra, you’ll need a visa. We’ll take care of the entire process for you — your visa will be issued about a week before departure. If you’d prefer not to have a stamp in your passport, that’s no problem. The immigration officer at the airport knows exactly what to do — just say “no stamp in my passport”.
Absolutely. I recently brought my teenage son with me to Sokotra — and that alone should tell you how confident I am in the island’s safety. Sokotra is a peaceful, remote island — far from the instability of mainland Yemen. Every season, over 3000 travelers from around the world visit without issue.
While the mainland has its complexities, Sokotra is both geographically and politically isolated from it. What you’ll find here is silence, nature, and a warm local community — not conflict.
A hotel under a thousand stars. Sokotra is not a place for standard travel — and it’s certainly not a place for standard hotels.
There’s no large-scale infrastructure here. You’ll be sleeping in a tent, set up for you each day in a new, breathtaking location. Inside: a proper mattress, clean bedding, soft pillows, warm blankets. Beyond the canvas: the rhythm of waves, the hush of wind, and the nighttime chorus of island life. This is comfort, Sokotra-style.
Sokotra will give you sunburns, salty hair, starry nights, and a thousand new stories. To enjoy it fully, pack light — but pack smart.

- Cash in USD (no working ATMs — it’s part of the charm) if you would like to buy a souvenir or tip someone
- A notebook, maybe — Sokotra inspires words.
Optional but Soul-Lifting
- A book you’ll never finish (because you’ll be staring at the sea instead)
- A camera — but your eyes will do just fine
- Small gifts if you like connecting with locals ( but no sweets !!! )
- Curiosity. Lots of it.
What to Leave Behind
- Shoes you love too much to get dusty
- Expectations
- Emails
- The need to control everything
- Grumpiness. The island won’t allow it.
We always carry a first aid kit during our journeys, and we recommend bringing any personal medications you may need.
As with any trip abroad, travel health insurance is a good idea — but please note: most insurance providers do not cover travel to Yemen. That said, you’re not alone.
In case of emergency, there is a hospital in Hadiboh, the island’s capital — and if medical care is needed, we as your hosts will cover the costs of treatment or overnight stay.
Your safety is our responsibility — and we mean that.
"I came for the landscapes. I stayed for the people. Abdullah, Mohammed, Abu Rami – every person in the team brought their own magic. I learned more in 10 days than I have in years of traveling. Beyond Socotra doesn’t just take you somewhere. They bring you into it."
